Mr. Reaves graduated from Duke University in 1955 with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation he joined Turner Construction Company where he worked for 45 years with increasing responsibilities to that of senior corporate executive. Since 2001, he has been an independent consultant. Over his first 12 years with Turner he lived in 7 different locations and worked on 1 different projects...the most interesting of which were a Cathedral in Baltimore: office buildings in Hartford, Miami & NYC; research centers for Bethlehem Steel and American Standard; the PanAm Terminal at JFK and the renovation & expansion of Ft. Hamilton in Brooklyn.
In 1968, he joined Turner's International division and with his wife and three sons moved to Hong Kong. In H.K. he was in charge of the design & construction of a condominium complex project of (99) twenty story buildings...where some 75,000 residents now live. Turner also used H.K as a base to pursue work in the Philippines, Singapore and China. Mr. Reeves supported his oversees community and was the first president of the still currently active Hong Kong Little League.
In 1975, leaving his family in H.K., he accepted a temporary assignment to Tehran, Iran. From his Tehran office he pursued opportunities in Iran, in Afghanistan (a textile plant in Kandahar), in Pakistan and the U.A.E. In Tehran, he oversaw the early development of the Imperial Medical Center of Iran: in Pakistan the Aga Khan Hospital and Medical College, as well as hotels in Dubai & Abu Dhabi.
In 1977, Mr. Reaves and his family returned to the USA and he became E.V.P. of Turner's International division. In that role he oversaw the development and implementation of the latest systems for (and managed) estimating, purchasing, accounting, cost control and personnel. He also had project management responsibilities for a high-rise office building in Singapore, the reconstruction of the USA Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, and the Royal Terminal at Riyadh Airport in Saudi Arabia.
In 1985, returning to domestic operations, he was initially responsible for the $500 million United Airlines Terminal One at O'Hare in Chicago. He then came to Florida and managed Turner regional offices in Miami and Orlando. During that time Turner's Miami projects included luxury condos at Fischer Island, a design/build office building for the GSA and cargo terminals at MIA. In Orlando, the First Union (Now Wachovia) office tower, the Universal Studios, the Disney Institute and the Tampa Aquarium.
Over the last ten years Mr. Reaves helped Turner manage new business opportunities in Kuwait, South Africa and Brazil, as well as projects in the Washington, D.C. area. Most recently he was in charge of the construction of the Cincinnati Bengal's NFL football stadium and a politically sensitive prep school restoration in Cincinnati.
