Chu-Tzu Hsu is well-known to colleagues and the community simply as "C.T." A Chinese native, C.T. came to the U.S. in 1974 to pursue his Masters of Architecture in Advanced Studies degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He later established the Orlando-based architectural firm, C.T. Hsu + Associates. P.A., in 1984 and has served as its managing principal and president ever since.
In addition to receiving several Awards for Design Excellence by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Orlando Chapter and Florida Association for various projects throughout the last two decades, C.T.'s firm was recognized as the 2006 Firm of the Year by the AIA Florida Association based on its solid track record of design excellence, service to the profession and community service. C.T. himself has been elevated by the AIA to its prestigious College of Fellows, an honor awarded to members who have made contributions of national significance to the profession.
C.T. has consistently worked hard to resolve various arts and culture, educational, economic development, growth management and globalization issues facing our community. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce and Valencia Community College Foundation. He also is an active member of, and held past board positions on, several other business and civic organizations, including the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Urban Land Institute, AIA, Goodwill Industries of Central Florida, National Conference for Community and Justice, Asian American Chamber of Commerce, Asian American Heritage Council, Chinese American Association and Orange County Public Schools Business Advisory Board.
In addition, he has held mayoral appointments to the following: Orlando Citizen Corps Council, Mayor's Community Panel on Police Pursuits, Metro Orlando International Affairs Commission and Orlando Sister Cities Committee. Additional volunteer commitments include the Mobility 20/20 Committee and Change 4 Kids initiatives.
C.T. is a graduate of both Leadership Orlando and Leadership Florida. In 2005, he received two awards for his community leadership in activities that directly benefit the community and the profession of architecture. They are the Hilliard T. Smith Silver Medal Award from the AIA Florida Association and the Nils M. Schweizer Community Service Award from the AIA Orlando Chapter.
