Mr. Halyard graduated from St. Petersburg Junior College and the University of Florida. Paul joined Trane Air Conditioning in 1963 in Orlando, Florida and has been involved in the construction industry for the past 45 years.
He joined Sauer Mechanical Contractors in the early 1970s and worked on many projects throughout Central Florida, including Disney, seven Robinson stores, and the State Capital in Tallahassee, Florida. He started Peninsula Engineering, in 1977, a firm specializing in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical engineering for buildings. The most impressive project was the Royal Palace of Brunei for Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. Paul worked as a subcontractor to Bechtel on this project, providing the conceptual design for the HVAC and the Sultan's security system.
In 1999, Mr. Halyard sold Peninsula Engineering. His most recent start up company is Property Condition Assessment, Inc. which provides construction consulting services to lenders and owners. It also performs due diligence services on commercial and residential properties, construction "draw" inspections, environmental site assessments, construction plans and cost reviews, and infrared water intrusion surveys. Property Condition Assessment, Inc. provides services for clients throughout the state of Florida.
He received the prestigious Engineer of the Year award in 1998 by the Florida Engineering Society. He also received the Engineers Week 2001 Career Achievement Award by the Florida Engineering Society. Paul is published and has written several articles throughout his illustrious career.
Extremely active in the community, he participates in Rotary (Charter Member), numerous College Foundations, Past President of the University Club as well as its Foundation and active with the ASHRAE Scholarship Fund.
